A Masterpiece: Four Fine Art Palettes to Inspire Your Day

I cry at art museums.

Whether I am moved to tears by the subject matter, think Kara Walker, or I come face to face with a work I’ve seen in countless text books—I am a sucker for art and what it can do. The same can be said for the design of your wedding. The colors you choose must be carefully considered and carried throughout the elements of your day; from linens, florals and fashion to signage and signature cocktails--color can be transformative.  Taking some inspiration from some of my favorite works, I have curated palettes for the fine art wedding of your dreams.

Starry Night

Vincent van Gogh / 1889 / Museum of Modern Art

This piece is one of the most recognizable paintings in the world, with it’s active brushstrokes and mix of warm and cool tones.  Imagine al fresco dining under the stars with pops of yellow surrounded by rich blues and French touches--a post-impressionist’s dream.

The Swing

Jean-Honore Fragonard / ca. 1767 / Wallace Collection

This work is the perfect combination of a feminine palette, lush greenery and decadence with a hilarious twist (for more on that click here). Picture a wedding full of greenery installations, pink elements, soft textures and, of course, a swing.

The Kiss

Gustav Klimt / 1908 / Austrian Gallery Belvedere

An amazing mix of patterns, colors and a warm embrace surrounded in gold--how inspiring is that? A bold scheme with a focus on rich textures, eclectic florals and luxe metals will complete the look.

Birth of Venus

Sandro Botticelli / 1486 / Uffizi Gallery

A work of epic proportions, commissioned by the most influential family in Florence, this painting provides endless inspiration.  Billowing fabric, muted tones and natural, feminine beauty would be at the forefront of this design.

Weddings can be whatever you want them to be and no matter what palette you choose, let us make it beautiful.
