Small Scale, Big Love: Microweddings with Hosea House x Jenn Eddine Photography

The longer I am in this industry, the smaller I want my own wedding to be.

While 2020 couples have to consider a microwedding out of necessity, I think that future couples will see them as an amazing option for thoughtful and intentional designs.

I had the opportunity to create a microwedding styled shoot at the eclectic Whitaker and Atlantic to announce their new Microwedding Packages all captured by sweet Jenn Eddine of Jenn Eddine Photography.  Below she shares her pros of celebrating small:

1. There is no rule book. With microweddings there is no right way to do it, giving you the freedom to make your wedding exactly how you want it to be. Don’t feel like you have to adhere to any traditions that don’t bring you joy, since you’re already forging your own path as it is.

2. Having a microwedding gives you new freedom and how you spend your budget. Oftentimes, couples spend a large portion of their budget on catering and feeding 150 guests. No, with fewer mouths to feed, that budget can go towards your florals and other design elements, or that dream venue or photographer that you have been dying to work with! The best way to figure out how to wisely spend your budget is to absolutely hire a planner. A planner’s job is to allocate your funds in the most practical way possible while still working to give you the wedding of your dreams.

3. Do not feel burdened by your small guest list! Many people now are opting to have a microwedding, and then following it up with a bigger celebration on either their first anniversary or another designated date. People will undoubtedly be understanding of your situation, and will of course wish you the very best. You will be able to celebrate with everyone in due course! Remember, you also set the tone for this. When you are communicating with people who originally desired to attend your wedding, share with great enthusiasm your plans to include them in your celebration at a future time.

4. Have fun and be creative! Whenever you feel overly stressed about your planning situation, pause and reflect on how exciting this all is. Weddings are celebratory and should only bring you joy. It is literally a giant party in which you start your future with your best friend by your side. It doesn’t get much more beautiful than that!

There is something to be said about having less cooks in the kitchen--with a smaller weddings you are able to cut out the noise (and opinions) while focusing on what matters most--the love that you and your partner share. Determine your priorities and go for it! Like each couple, each microwedding is completely different and we will build a custom planning package around every event. This trend isn’t going anywhere and we can’t wait to help you make it epic!
